About On Target Tuition
What happens when you bring your child to On Target Tuition?
Your child will be assessed thoroughly in maths and/or English and we will give you the feedback straight away. We will be able to pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses in the subject area and will discuss with you how we can fill in the gaps in their knowledge.
We will use this assessment data to put together a programme of work specifically designed to target their individual needs. This might include: helping them prepare for a test, helping them achieve a comfortable level in the classroom, giving support for specific learning needs such as dyslexia or extending them beyond their current classroom level.
Once the assessment is complete we can discuss what days and times we have available in our timetable and pencil your child in for their weekly tuition slot.
Your child will then attend tuition once a week. Each 80 minute session will be broken down into short activities, some written and some on our computer software.
Our experienced, qualified tutors will teach your child according to their own targeted plan of work. If your child is studying for an exam then this tuition will include some past paper practise and exam technique.
Feedback is given verbally after each lesson and you can discuss with your child’s teacher the progress they have made and what the next steps in their learning will be. This process is the same whether your child is attending term time lessons or summer school lessons.
